On busier evenings, especially Mondays at 6 PM, the restaurant can reach 100% capacity, leading to a wait for tables. Some guests have noted that this might hinder the overall experience, despite the quality of food and service. Additionally, while the cozy atmosphere is welcomed by many, some diners feel it can feel a bit crowded during peak times.
A few visitors expressed that certain menu items' prices feel slightly higher than expected for casual dining. However, most agree that the quality of ingredients justifies the cost, especially for fresh seafood on an island. A common suggestion is to call ahead for reservations, particularly during tourist season, to avoid long wait times and ensure a smooth dining experience.
What a fantastic little joint! We got the blue crab stuffed ravioli and grilled salmon, sushi rice bowl! It did not disappoint!!! We will be making this establishment a must stop when we visit Hatteras Island! Maggie the bar tender recommended the tropical margarita with pineapple and watermelon. It was light and refreshing! Very tasty!
The Cape Hatteras Motel suggested this restaurant and boy what a great idea! We had no wait (wasn't during high season) on a Friday around 6. Jordan was our waiter and he was wonderful - very knowledgeable about their restaurant and food and also the area. We had the catch of the day with cucumber salad and mac and cheese. And I had the cod fish, shrimp and crab cake. The freshest seafood we've had in a long time. Everything was delicious! Highly recommend.
We popped in for some very late lunch (it was around five, but it’s our anniversary so we’re on our own schedule) and had the black drum cotd and peel and eat shrimp. Beets and cucumber salad were sides for the catch. Everything was delicious. Our bartender took amazing care of us and we really just enjoyed everything about the experience. They had folks at the bar (my favorite place to eat) and parties from two to much larger. They’ve got it going on, great food, great vibes. Definitely recommend.
This place fills up fast! The staff is wonderful. The owner is there working and happy to talk to you! The food is fantastic! We were here right after it opened (2020) and we were so happy it is still going strong!
Debbie was a mature, seasoned waiter. Best fish and chips ever with a rare jalapeno tartar sauce. Excellent service.
By far our favorite place on Hatteras island. We have been probably 5 or 6 times now. The food is amazing…. No matter what we order it’s perfect! The apps are great, dinner is wonderful and the drinks and dessert are unmatched! We have had Debbie each time but one. She is wonderful, attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. We recommend Cockeyed Clam to everyone!!!!
From start to finish our experience was excellent. Debbie was a phenominal server and so very sweet. (Turns out we know her family from 4 hours away in Pilot, NC) for our meal we got 5 apps and not even one of them missed the mark at all. The food was incredible. Bang bang shrimp special, Fried goat cheese, lobster escargo, brussel sprouts that would make a hater fall in love, and the best crab dip. We we able to order a crab cake and some fried oysters without buying a whole meal to get them and they were both next level good. And to close it out My wife, the self proclaimed creme brulee afficianodo, has claimed Cockeyed Clams to tbe the best creme brulee shes ever had. It was so smooth not slimey or goopy like most! 10 of 10 would recomend and cant wait to go back.
